Jika tiba waktunya, siapkah diri kita menyambut datangnya kematian? Teruslah berbuat baik, berkata baik, memberi nasehat yg baik, walau tak banyak orang mengenalmu, cukuplah Allah mengenalmu lebih dari yg lain via

Rasulullah Saw bersabda, “Sering-seringlah mengingat si penutup segala kelezatan (kematian)”. (HR Tirmizi).

Aamiin.

South Korea, 2012

I did not have enough preparation for this trip. Last year, I only planed to go to Komodo Island, but then by coincidence, I follow one of traveler writer who is Claudia Kaunang. At that time, she opened registration for South Korea Trip, so I registered my self and not expect too much because I know there were so many people register to join her trip. So, after I had a fix plan to travel to Komodo Island, then I received the email from CK. I was so excited, so I decided to go although I only had a minimun budget. My consideration was this trip would be my first trip going with the group and I could meet a lot of new people and the travel’s cost not so expensive :).

Labuan Bajo, Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia, 2012

I and my friend decided to visit Komodo Island since 2011. Yes, as Indonesian people, we are very proud because of The Last Dragon only could live in Indonesia. So, we decided to see what was The Komodo look like. At this moment we only have a chance to visit Labuan Bajo and went with the boat to several island around Komodo Island. There was no direct flight from Jakarta to Labuan Bajo, we had transit in Bali and took smaller flight, we usually called it as “pesawat capung” from Denpasar, Bali to Labuan Bajo.

Bali, Indonesia

Bali. I will understand if some people said that Bali is the best destination for the vacation. Yes, there are many beautiful places, and every year there are many new resorts, clubs open. Honestly, sometimes it was not good for the islands itself, in my opinion it was kind of exploitation. In 2009, I went to Bali for vacation, I still could enjoy the sunset at Kuta Beach by sitting at one of the cafetaria in one of the biggest mall at Kuta. In 2011, when I went to Bali for work, I mostly spent my time at Nusa Dua Resort Area, so at the last day when I still had a plenty of time before my flight depart, I decided to visit Kuta, then I shocked. There many people there, and the beach looked very dirty. I hope the government always maintain and has the best strategy to keep the originality of the island, the development itself could bring harm for the island if we only think about the money and the quantity.

Malang, East Java, Indonesia, 2010

Malang is the city where my grandparents live. Every year in Lebaran Day I and my family always went to Malang. When I was a child,  I always spent 1 month  at my grandparents’s house  to spend my school holiday. But when I grew up, the longest day I could take is around 5 days. So, in 2010 when I did not have something to do in Jakarta, I decided to go to visit my grandparents and stay for 1 month. At that time, my grand father still alive but he was very old and sick. I remembered how I try to talk to him at that time, and sometimes I assisted Bi Sumi in taking care my grandparents. When all the families already went back from Malang, I had a plan to go the place that I never visited before, and chose the place that could be reached by the public transportation, because I would go by my self.

Padang and Sikuai Island, West Sumatera Indonesia, 2009

I and my friends went to Padang in 2009. My plan was to go to Sikuai Island. But, we have no choice to visit Padang before we went to Sikuai Island. I never have a plan to go to Padang before, but knowing that Minangkabau area weather is so cool gave me another experience. So, we spent 3 nights at 3 different hotels. To visit the sikuai island, it would take only around 40 – 50 minutes by boat from the dock at A & W at Padang.

Treasure Found

I Just found one of my favorite songs that I like since I was in junior or senior high school. I know this song is one of the soundtrack of the TV series, but I do not even remember any scene of the drama series. However, all of a sudden I remembered the song and tried to look it up on you tube.

When I hear that song I feel both joy and sorrow. Maybe the lyrics of this song told about the meeting and the separation? Or Is it because the end of the story in the drama series not a happy ending? Today I do not intend to find out the story. I just want to enjoy this song by listening it many many  times. I feel like I am just finding my lost treasure.

This song is the theme song of the TV drama series titled Till We Meet Again. Taken from the novel Judith Krantz. The tittle of the song itself is My Life sung by Mireille Mathieu.

My Life

Here is the lyrics

My life will never be the same
My heart is burning without shame
I feel the sun in me
When you return, you’ll see a change

My heart is whispering your name
My love is coming once again
And I shall always be
All you believe, all you can dream
I’m not the same

Some people search all their lives
I feel that my turn has come to reach high into the sky
And finally a star shines on me
Finally I can touch eternity

My life will never be the same
Your love surrounds me once again
And this will rise and blow
And show me all I need to know

My heart is whispering your name
My love is calling you again
I wish you knew how true
My feelings are, only for you

Our lives will never be the same
My love’s an ever-lasting flame
Burning eternally for you alone
When you’re with me, in love again

Obstacles or Challenges?

During my 34 years of life, I feel that life is not always fun. Whether we realize it or not start when we are born, be a baby, become a teen, and now as adult,  we would meet a thing called as a problem.

Maybe we do not remember, how did we learn to walk, most of us will start by crawling, but many of us could walk directly with both feet. But I believe, in the beginning we learned, we often fall, it is  for sure, but with the encouragement and help from our parents, we can finally walk and run :).

What about when we first learned to ride a bike? I am sure all of you could remember the event. Initially our parents will take off one small wheel. At that time, we would still be able to balance the bicycle. Next, our parents would remove another small wheel, so we had a trouble in balancing our bike. Then what? We fell, right? As I remembered, my knees got injured because of learning to ride a bike. But I did not think it was a problem, but I felt challenged, because my goal was to be able to ride two wheels bicycle. So, then finally I could ride it as a pro *no, I am just kidding*.

When I was elementary school student , I remember how difficult Cerdas Tangkas lesson was. Cerdas Tangkas is one part of the math lesson. Every night my father always taught me, sometimes I start to cry because my father was very stern when teaching a lesson to me. But finally, I was able to understand the lesson. Perhaps there is any of you who experienced the same thing.

Next, we went up into higher education level. I do not know your experience. Normatively, as we grow, our ability to solve a problem should also be developed. If I remember, when I was in college, I do not have a goal to get a very good achievement index, so in terms of the lessons I had no trouble. However, from the social side, I have learned to see the problem. I have to argue with my friends or my parents who have a different opinions about something but at the end we could have a win-win solution.

As I entered the working  life,  I faced many more problems than I ever imagined. Arguing with the boss who use improper words. The company’s  management which was very unprofessional. Meet co-workers who unresponsible with their tasks. Work on a tasks which was not my responsibility.  Meet the owner of a company who behave unfair to its employees, and many more other examples.

The problem also comes from social side. Unsucessful relationship with a men. The death of my father when my younger sister was still in high school, therefore I, my older sister and my mother had to cooperate in meeting the needs of our families and many more. Especially when I was still working and then decided to go back to college at that time, my brain got tangles, because I managed to add more problems in my life :).

If we want to look back, the problem has been there from the time of our childhood until now. Nothing has changed. But, there is the difference. What is it? The difference is our response in facing of the problem. Remember, when we learned to ride a bike? Actually we have trained ourselves to face the problem, how often do we complain that we see the difficulty of riding a bike? But at the end we managed it and the goal could be reached. But why now as adult, when we are  facing a problem, we feel like the world would tumble down, feel helpless, start to think to give up and hard to get up. We just have to do something as we did in our childhood. We have to keep moving forward so that we can get to the place where we want.

Which is often forgotten now, if we find a problem while we are moving forward, we feel exhausted and finally decide to stop. Ultimately, our goal is not achieved, and we can only regret. Some life experiences taught me that we should have a purpose in our lives, as well as being able to ride a bike. So, if we’re in the process of “learning to ride a bike” and “fall many times”, we can see it as a challenge, not as an obstacle, we only have to focus on our goal, until it is reached.
As the quote from the wise man below:uncomfortablesoul_tumblr_ld20q00bPx1qah2fqo1_500

Enjoy your life!! 🙂

Is It a Coincidence?

I’m sure everyone in this world has ever felt an event called as a coincidence. For example, when you wished for a pizza then suddenly your friend calls you and she says she will come to your house to deliver a pizza. Another example, one day you like one good product but you do not have the money to buy it and all of a sudden when you are having your birthday, you get it  from someone as a present.

One time I  angry with someone, but in my heart I wanted him to come and apologize to me. Suddenly my office’s receptionist informed me that there is a guest who would like to meet me. Yes my friend came just to say apology.

A few months ago something like that has occurred. I want to do a business and I had to buy one product to start it up. I do not have enough money to buy it. However, all of a sudden there was a very nice person came to me and lent me some money so I could start my the business.

The last few days, I think of someone, I just curious where is he and what does he do?  Because I did not see any update from his account in social media, and I do not have a courage to text him. All of a sudden he sent me a message. Just to convey me the news which I think it is not very urgent. Simultaneously, my friend told me something similar was happening to her. She kept thinking her delivery man on that day, because he just gave her some snacks that she likes, and at the moment she really needs help from him because my friend brought a lot of goods from the grocery store, and suddenly, her delivery man appeared in front of her. It is very coincidence. There are many more examples but I am sure one page is not enough to explain.

When I studied in psychology, I remember there is a term for this kind of phenomenon. Swiss psychologist, Carl Jung, is the first modern thinker to explain this mysterious phenomenon. He mentions the term synchronicity. Jung found synchronicity is the principle of cause and effect in the universe, the law that moves humanity toward a greater awareness of growth.  Jung using the term “synchronicity” to describe the experience of two or more causally unrelated events being observed as happening together in a manner that is meaningful. Just as events can be grouped by their cause, so also they can be grouped by their meaning. This relationship of meaning is sufficient in and of itself to constitute synchronicity, and it is not necessary to find some causal relationship between the events (quote from various sources)

Anyway, I do not want to discuss or analyze it based on the psychology’s term. But I believe, if we are thinking and really want something, and we put our effort by trying and praying to achieve it, I am very sure that God will let it this happen to us. Yes, it is like a magic but we know that life is really full of magic. So, let’s enjoy our life.
